General English

The aim of the General English courses is to improve the participants' ability to communicate in English in various everyday situations, such as travelling, socialising, following different interests and hobbies, etc.

The programme of each of the courses we run is prepared individually, to match the learning needs and objectives of each of the participants, that are specified during the needs analysis process. The training sessions may either support the steady development of all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) or focus on selected skills required by participants with specific language needs.

The teaching methodology applied by our teachers aims at maximising the amount of practical language knowledge acquired by participants during each of the lessons by means of realistic communication activities, such as: role-plays, discussions or language games.

The General English Courses we offer at ACT can vary in form depending on the level or needs of the participants. We can distinguish the following types of courses:

  • General Communication for Life

This programme is aimed at people who use English in different situations in life, or those who plan to use it more frequently in the future, or finally those who simply like to learn this language.

The General Communication for Life courses help to evenly develop the language competences needed while travelling, socialising, or staying abroad for a longer time. The focus of the training programme is the improvement of verbal and written communication skills.

  • Survival English

This programme is useful for people who have just begun their adventure with learning the language or who would like to begin it as they may be needing English for independent communication in an international environment. The course focuses on developing participants' ability to understand and actively use some of the most vital words, phrases, or expressions that they may come across when travelling, making acquaintances with foreigners, or when in need of help.

  • English Discussion Club

This programme is for people whose knowledge of English is at least intermediate level and who would like to learn how to use the language fluently, confidently and spontaneously in conversations and discussions, at the same time broadening their vocabulary range and exchanging their views on some interesting topics. The Discussion Club is also a great opportunity for participants to increase their knowledge of the cultural issues in the English-speaking countries
